About Us
Shooting Stars was founded in 1996 by Jen Oliver. A Marin County native, Jen graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. After traveling for a year, she embarked on a career in photography. As a protégé to both Michael Zagaris, the long-time team photographer of the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland A’s, and Terry Schmitt of United Press International, she developed her skills as a sports photographer.
When the Oakland Raiders returned to the Bay Area, Jen joined their photography team shooting game action as well as editorial spots for their Game Day magazine. In 1993, she started her first independent photography company photographing children’s athletics and selling photos to the parents.
By 1996, this company had grown into Shooting Stars Productions, which now photographs over 200 leagues and schools totaling 100,000+ young athletes each year. The company’s commitment to capturing these precious moments in children’s lives has propelled its journey over the past two decades. Shooting Stars has established its reputation as the industry leader in Northern California by consistently delivering the highest quality photos, customer service and support in order to ensure the greatest success of the organizations it serves. Jen currently resides in San Rafael with her two sons.
